6 weeks old!
Hi little girl <3 <3
You were 6 weeks old yesterday- time is going so slowly and so quickly all at once. You are growing so much and are so active and alert. Your little thighs and arms have rolls on them now and you are chunking up nicely- you were so so tiny when you were born! Your hair hasn't started to fall out at all yet and no cradle cap- hoping it stays that way! You are so beautiful- like we comment often about how you're the most beautiful baby we have had! and we get lots of comments from others about how gorgeous you are. You are not the best sleeper... you pretty much like to really really fall asleep in arms before you'll allow us to get you down in your crib for the night. Like we have to ergo you or let you sleep on us until about midnight every night... and then of course, you're up every 2 hours to eat. and you just don't nap on your own very well...although this week, we actually had a few naps in your crib and the MamaRoo swing- hallelujah! you just want to be held all the time hahaha. you do show a strong preference for me- your mama- and are getting quite vocal when you're unhappy. you cry loudly now! you start to cry when your siblings get too close to you (well, June and Zeke anyway..Johanna is amazing with you and walks around holding you often) and I don't blame you because they just love you so so much they squish on you a bit haha. I am able to nurse you probably 90% of the time- we supplement about 4 oz a day right now- 2 oz around lunch and another 2 in the evening. I am still amazed how my body can do that for you! Poor Zeke is a trooper about not getting any milk anymore...he still nurses many times a day, but he now understands he gets whatever you leave him- which is often nothing haha. but i know he still enjoys the snuggles! i don't often tandem nurse- it just wasn't my favorite. i felt hunched over and like it hurt my back and it was hard to keep you both latched on. so tandem nursing in our own sweet way. You have been around for 2 snow storms already this winter- today is the start of a several day one, so we are all hunkered down at home and your cousin is staying with us for a few weeks, so i am hoping for some quiet time with your siblings playing with grandparents and extra snuggles and rest for us! you have had only 3 baths...we should bathe you tonight probably ha. You seem to enjoy them! and we just today started using cloth diapers on you because we ran out of our newborn disposable diapers and don't have a ton of size 1...i am hoping Coronavirus restrictions loosen up soon and we can actually go out more often so we like to save disposables for bedtime and outings and we won't have enough if we use them full time... you are so tiny, i am guessing you'll be in size 1 diapers for at least 2 months ha. with the cloth dipes, we bumped you into 3 month clothing. you still for sure fit in newborn, but bulky cloth diapers make it tight and your legs were hard to get in the jammies. plus we have so many cute 3 month outfits i want to make sure you have plenty of time to wear them all lots! what else? you enjoy tummy time for short bursts and are really strong! great head control in the ergo too! you were a very constipated, gassy baby for the first few weeks and really only poop every 2-3 days. you are slowly but surely figuring it out and aren't quite as grunty at night ;) You have been sleeping on your tummy- it just seemed to work better, but have lately started enjoying your back more. you live in jammies about 90% of the time because socks won't stay on your tiny feets and the footie jammies are just so cozy and cute! you have kind of started to smile- i have for sure gotten a handful and it just melts me! you have smiled at a few others but always fart right after, so we just aren't sure if they're real or gas hahaha. you coo a lot too! you are very expressive with your voice- i can pretty much tell just what you're wanting, which is most often to fall asleep on the boob ;)
your birth mom told us that she was moving to Wisconsin a few weeks ago and we weren't sure if we would ever see her again, so we invited her for dinner before she left and it was really precious. she cried and cried while holding you at first and then the emotion passed and she was so happy- talking to you and taking pictures with you. she also brought you a present with some clothing, shoes, and a stuffed animal. she really loves you! she posts pictures of you and her almost every day in her FB stories with the song, "Tercer Cielo" which is a super sweet song. She also told us her aunt and uncle back in Guatemala really want to make and send you some traditional Guatemalan clothing, so we said we would for sure help pay to get that shipped- i hope they send it! We were really sad for her to move away and are still hopeful that she will move back and we can have an open relationship with her! but for now, she calls and video-chats often and we are thankful for that!
we love you a whole lot sweet girl and are so thankful for you! you are perfect and healthy and so adored and i have so many prayers for your sweet life! I pray that the Lord would bless you richly with joy and with strong relationships with your family- all of us! i pray that you would feel so much peace and would have an intimate, strong relationship with the Lord and call Him your friend and Savior. This feels scary to actually write out, but I often pray that through you, all your extended family back in Guatemala might come to know the Lord. I pray that you would be healthy all your life and get to live to a good old age. I also pray that you would find an honorable husband who loves the Lord and leads you in your relationship with Him and that you would have many beautiful children (who I will get to love and spoil and cherish!). Please know that you are prayed over daily, your cheeks are kissed hourly, and you are loved eternally and unconditionally.
Love Mama <3
